State police investigate campground stabbing.

By Allison Scarbrough, Editor.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 44-year-old Detroit man was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers on an assault and battery charge following a stabbing at the Lucky Lake Campground early Sunday morning, June 20, said MSP Sgt. Dan Thomas.

One victim — a 30-year-old man — was stabbed and transported to an area hospital, Thomas said. A 33-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were identified as victims but were not stabbed, he said.

The case remains under investigation and further charges may be issued against the suspect, he said. It is not immediately known if the suspect was camping at the campground.

Police were called to the scene located in the 3200 block of Winston Road at 1:30 a.m. There was a “gathering of people” at the campground, said Sgt. Thomas.

Assisting the state police were the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS and Grant Township Rescue.
