Homeless woman arrested after assaulting man, chasing him with broom.

LEAVITT TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old homeless woman from the Shelby area was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies Sunday, May 9, around 4 p.m. on charges of aggravated assault and meth possession after allegedly assaulting a man with whom she had been in a dating relationship — at one point chasing him with a broom, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The assault began in a moving vehicle on North 168th Avenue, and then the couple exited the car as the fight continued.

The victim suffered minor scratch injuries.

The suspect also allegedly pointed a knife at the victim but did not injure him with it, Mast said.

As the suspect was being processed during her arrest, deputies discovered she was in possession of methamphetamine, according to the police report. More meth was found in the vehicle.
