Free boater safety classes offered by sheriff’s office marine division.

PENTWATER — Oceana County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Simon will teach free boater safety classes in July and August at the Pentwater Yacht Club.
“Deputy Simon will proctor a test on the last day and issue boater safety certificates to all that pass,” said Oceana County Undersheriff Ryan Schiller. “This allows them to operate personal watercraft, such as wave runners and jet-skis, as well as other boats.”
The classes are July 12 and 13 from 8 a.m. to noon and Aug. 2 and 3 from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 231-873-6771 to register. All students must be pre-registered.
