City manager’s street work update

May 24, 2015

HART — The following is a report from City Manager Stan Rickard regarding the Johnson/Water Street Project:

“Thank you for your patience during the pre-project utilities relocation phase (electric, telephone and cable lines) and upgrades (gas mains).

Utility crews will continue their relocation work until Hallack Contracting of Hart mobilizes on June 8 for the water and sewer replacement phase scheduled through July 28, a seven- week effort. This work will begin at Johnson and Water Street and proceed westerly to Peach Street; and easterly to State Street. However, underground improvements will be disruptive to traffic patterns, so plan now for alternate routes and overnight parking.

Call City Hall (873-2488) if you think you may need overnight parking or other assistance during street closures.

This project includes (some) sidewalk and driveway apron replacement; and water-sewer service line replacement up to the property line. If you would like to upgrade your driveway, private sidewalks, or water-sewer lines into your house, now would be a good time to arrange that work. Contact the construction engineer or city hall if you have questions about these facilities near your property.

*Tuesday trash pickup: If you live mid-block on Johnson Street or Water Street you may need to place your blue cart and recycling box on side streets (Courtland, Water, Lincoln) so the hauler has access to them.

Prein&Newhof engineers of Muskegon will soon assign a construction engineer to the project who will work on behalf of the city. Thank you in advance for your patience.”
