HART — A 37-year-old Muskegon man admitted in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Nov. 16, to stealing several items from a hotel room at the Dunes Express Inn & Suites on Comfort Drive in Hart last January.

Elessie Gabriel Walker, of 3232 McArthur St., pleaded guilty to larceny in building Monday. Walker testified before Judge Robert D. Springstead that he stole a TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, alarm clock, comforters, pillows and a bath mat from a room the he did not rent. “I was a guest in someone’s room,” Walker told the judge.

Walker is facing a maximum five-month jail term for the conviction. Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-11 months, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. Restitution will be ordered in the case, said Bizon.

When asked by Judge Springstead where the stolen items are, Walker said, “I still have them in my garage.”

Sentencing is set for Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m.

Walker appeared in court with his attorney, Matthew Kacel, via Zoom video conferencing due to COVID-19.
