20th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

SHELBY – The 20th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is set for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Shelby Optimist Club, at 788 Industrial Park Drive.

All the traditional fixings of a Thanksgiving feast will be served – turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, pie, coffee and punch.

The public is invited to the free dinner, and donations are accepted. Volunteers from local churches and the community prepare and serve the delicious dinner.

“All are welcome to join in our community celebration of Thanksgiving, as across the nation, people will gather with family and friends and acknowledge God’s goodness and blessings in our lives,” states a press release from the organizers.

“Many local businesses, churches and community volunteers have provided time, talent and treasure needed to make the meal possible for the last 20 years. We have the privilege each year of serving 180-220 people who may be alone or unable to prepare a traditional meal for themselves.”

For more information or to volunteer to set up, clean up or help during the meal, call 231-861-2390 or 231-861-5320.
