Mail delivery vehicle rear-ended.

WEARE TOWNSHIP – A rural mail delivery vehicle was rear-ended while the driver was delivering mail at a mailbox in the 4400 block of Hammett Road Wednesday, July 3, shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

A 35-year-old Hart woman was stopped at the mailbox, and just as she was shutting the mailbox door, her vehicle was hit from behind, the report states. The letter carrier was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, which was hit by a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup truck.

The pickup truck driver – a 44-year-old Pentwater woman – was eastbound and did not see the Jeep Cherokee, according to the report. Also riding in the pickup truck was a 14-year-old Pentwater boy.

Both drivers received minor injuries, but neither were transported to the hospital.
