PENTWATER – Pentwater Women’s Club’s 2019 quilt, “Hidden Circles,” has been the center of many a conversation as it travels to different locations in Pentwater for viewing. It is part of an annual educational fundraiser for scholarships awarded to Pentwater-area graduating students and students returning to West Shore Community College.
Last year, the club raised $14,000, that was shared by eight graduates and one returning student. The quilt will be raffled off Sunday, May 19, between 2-5 p.m. during the organization’s annual fundraising event, “Wine and Art by the Water,” at the Pentwater Yacht Club, 205 S. Dover St.
Also featured, along with a large variety of wines for sampling and delicious food provided by club members, is the extensive and popular “Silent Auction.”
Raffle tickets for the quilt are $5 each, or three for $10. They are available for purchase from members of Pentwater Women’s Club, Jilly’s Gallery, and West Michigan Realty, both retailers located in downtown Pentwater.
The talented women responsible for the intricate construction of this year’s quilt will be available to answer questions, or sell last minute tickets. The quilting friends are Kristin Forester, Judy Jankowski, Susan Hacker, Donna Renshaw and Linda Hundt-Trierweiler.
“Hidden Circles” will be on display at “Wine and Art by the Water,” waiting to be taken home by one lucky winner, although one does not need to be present to win. The women’s club will make sure the winner gets it.
“It was a true labor of love, with our students in mind,” said Kristen Forester, a longtime quilter and driving force for the annual project. “It’s always amazing when an intricate piece of art like this quilt can be created to perfection by five different people. You have to see it to believe it.”
