Man arrested for DWLS following head-on crash.

BENONA TOWNSHIP — A 22-year-old Shelby man was arrested for driving while license suspended following a two-vehicle crash on West Shelby Road near 32nd Avenue Friday afternoon, May 18, that injured a 55-year-old Muskegon man, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Jose Jesus Trevino, 22, who was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon SUV, was stopped at the stop sign on 32nd Avenue as a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Richard Alan Eschman was westbound on Shelby Road, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report. Trevino failed to yield right-of-way and turned left onto Shelby Road, striking Eschman’s truck head-on.

Eschman suffered a “severe left wrist dislocation,” said Mast, and he was transported by Oceana County EMS to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. Trevino suffered minor injuries, the report states.

Two of Trevino’s three passengers also suffered minor injuries, including a 21-year-old Shelby woman and a 4-year-old child. A 2-year-old child riding in the SUV was not injured, according to the report.

Everyone involved in the 12:33 p.m. crash was properly restrained by wearing a seat belt or riding in a car seat, according to the report.
