ROTHBURY — The late Wally Wojack is honored by the Electric Forest Festival with a display inside the Sherwood Forest.

Wojack, who planted what is now the iconic Sherwood Forest 62 years ago, was a beloved friend to the festival and the Double JJ Resort, where the event is held each summer.

“We wanted to pay tribute to Wally and his family,” said Carrie Lombardi, festival organizer.

A large photo of Wally appears in the display with a direct quote from an OCP article written last fall by Editor Allison Scarbrough.

“Those kids (at Electric Forest) acted like the kids did in the 1950s. We dressed funny; we drank a lot of beer; and we had fun. History repeats itself.”

Wally, wearing his cowboy hat and with twinkle in his eye, happily rode his quad throughout the festival grounds during previous events. His legendary quad is situated in the display.

Sadly, Wally passed away last April at the age of 89, but his sparkling spirit lives on in the place he loved so much.
