HART — A 20-year-old Hart man was sentenced to 21 months to 15 years in prison for a conviction of third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Sept. 26.

“I’m sorry,” said Gilberto Miguel Colon to Judge Anthony A. Monton. “I hope for the best, and expect the worst.”

Sentencing guidelines in the case were 21-35 months, said Monton, who gave Colon credit for two days served in jail.

Colon was initially facing a charge of first-degree CSC, which is punishable by up to life in prison. The first-degree CSC charge was dismissed when he pleaded “no contest” to third-degree CSC last July.

Colon was arrested last April after a warrant was issued by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office. He sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female victim in November of 2014 in Hart Township, according to his court file.
