WALKERVILLE — Several cartons of cigarettes and chewing tobacco were stolen during a breaking and entering at the Walkerville Kwik Mart early Monday morning, June 1, according to Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to an alarm activation at the convenience store at 3:44 a.m., and upon inspection of the business, they discovered someone had forced their way through an old sliding window that had once been used as a “service door,” Mast said.

No cash other items were taken, Mast said. Police have “some people of interest” as potential suspects, he said. No other details are being released at this time as the case is under investigation.

Anyone with any information about the break-in asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (231) 873-2121.
