78th District Court sentencings: 71-year-old man serves jail time for coffee mug assault

HART – The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

–      Dennis Clare Gordon, 71, of 9247 Frances St., Hesperia, pleaded no contest Jan. 26 to aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 43 days in jail with credit for 43 days served; $75 in fines and costs; one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon was dismissed. According to his court file, he assaulted a female victim with a ceramic mug, Jan. 11, in Newfield Township.

–      David Quintero, 31, of 3835 N. 88th Ave., Hart, was found guilty Feb. 23 of disorderly person – jostling. He was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs and 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of domestic violence dismissed.

–      Melvin William Zacharias, 57, of 7687 8 Mile Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Feb. 23 of operating while intoxicated (OWI). He was sentenced to nine days in jail; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; six months probation; $1,665 in fines and costs; no alcohol/drugs; subject to testing, counseling and searches required by probation officer; and outpatient substance abuse counseling. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of second-offense OWI was dismissed.

–      Matias Mendez, 44, of 3559 S. 132nd Ave., Hesperia, was found guilty Feb. 23 of allowing a person to drive in violation. He was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs; 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed.

–      Craig David Overla, 29, of 5427 S. Water Rd., New Era, was found guilty Feb. 24 of operating while impaired. He was sentenced to 23 days in jail with credit for 23 days served; $400 in fines and costs; 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; outpatient treatment; and must complete counseling. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating while intoxicated and violating a restricted license were dismissed.

–      Zachary Adam Ohrling, 24, of 120 Munn St., Hesperia, was found guilty Feb. 23 of disorderly person – jostling. He was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs and 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of domestic violence dismissed.

–      Kenneth Matthew Shank, 27, of 1023 Holton Whitehall Rd., Whitehall, was found guilty Feb. 23 of domestic violence. He was sentenced to $975 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; six months probation; no alcohol/drugs; subject to counseling, testing and searches as required by probation officer; no contact with victim; and is retrained from harassing, stalking, threatening or engaging in any other conduct that would place the victim in reasonable fear of bodily injury.

–      Kevin Andrew Rasor, 36, of 8467 Robin Hood Crt., Montague, was found guilty Feb. 23 of disturbing the peace. He was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs; 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of assault and battery dismissed.

–      Leiha Ann Artman, 24, of 10831 Parkwood Dr., Montague, was found guilty Dec. 8 of larceny less than $200. She was sentenced Feb. 23 to $450 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. One felony count of breaking and entering a building with intent was dismissed in exchange for her truthful testimony against a co-defendant.

–      Kenneth Ray Hill, 30, of 1805 N. Woodland Blvd., De Land, Fla., was found guilty Feb. 23 of operating with a high blood alcohol content (BAC). He was sentenced to $1,240 in fines and costs; 180 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; and outpatient treatment/counseling can be completed in Florida. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–      Gloria Ann Corgey, 36, of 8813 E. Loop Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Feb. 23 of operating while impaired. She was sentenced to $1,075 in fines and costs; outpatient treatment; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–      Anne Alyssa Klevering, 26, of 2206 Moulton Ave., Muskegon, was found guilty Feb. 23 of operating while impaired. She was sentenced to $1,040 in fines and costs; outpatient treatment; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; and credit for time served if imposed. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.

–      Kyle Josepher Blohm, 22, of 5719 S. 64th Ave., New Era, was found guilty Feb. 23 of operating a motor vehicle without security. He was sentenced to $440 in fines and costs; one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of operating without a license on person was dismissed.

–      Robert Lee Johnson, 45, of 933 N. 166th Ave., Hart, was found guilty Feb. 23 of disorderly person – jostling. He was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs; 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; and credit for time served if imposed. One count of domestic violence was dismissed.

–      Charles Lavern Potter, Jr., 40, of 2225 Ewing Rd., Twin Lake, was found guilty Feb. 23 of driving while license suspended (DWLS). He was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; and credit for time served if imposed. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of second-offense DWLS was dismissed.
