Shelby couple sentenced for trying to solicit 13-year-old girl

MUSKEGON – A Shelby couple was sentenced to 90 days in jail for using Facebook messages to try to solicit a 13-year-old Muskegon County girl they met in church to have sexual contact with them, according to mlive.

Christian Rodriguez, 20, and Jenna Victoria Covey, 19 were sentenced to 90 days in the Muskegon County Jail with credit for 82 days already served. Rodriguez received three years probation, and Covey was ordered to 18 months probation.

Rodriguez and Covey pleaded guilty last month to a felony of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

The judge, according to mlive, will consider granting Holmes Youthful Trainee Act status for both of them if they successfully complete probation, leaving them with no criminal convictions on their records.

No actual sexual contact reportedly occurred.
