Bank warns of Home Depot data breach.

September 11, 2014

LUDINGTON – Home Depot recently confirmed a data breach of its payment data system, which could potentially impact any customer that used their payment card at their U.S. and Canadian stores since April 2014.  According to the Home Depot website, the corporation does not have evidence that the breach impacted stores in Mexico or any customers who shopped online at HomeDepot.com.

West Shore Bank has issued a statement alerting consumers that if they have used a credit or debit card at a Home Depot store during this time period, the security breach may affect them.

“While the Home Depot data breach was out of our control, we are working diligently to identify any impact to West Shore Bank customers,” said Ray Biggs, president of West Shore Bank. “West Shore Bank will continue to monitor this situation and will reach out to any impacted card holders as soon as more information becomes available.”  Customers are encouraged to monitor their accounts on a daily basis and should immediately report any unusual or unauthorized activity to their financial institution.

If you believe that your debit or credit card has been compromised, it is important that you contact the card issuing financial institution. West Shore Bank customers can notify us by calling 231-845-3500 or 888-295-4373 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. – Noon (EST) or visiting a local branch.
