HART – A 70-year-old Hart man severely burned in a brush fire yesterday has died, police said.

Roger D. Kludy, 70, died at the hospital, according to Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Craig Mast. Kludy was apparently burning brush on Adams Road yesterday afternoon when he suffered severe burns. The Hart post of the Michigan State Police is handling the investigation, Mast said.

No one was injured when a two-story Shelby home was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon.

Shelby and Ferry fire departments were dispatched to a report of a garage fire at a home on 112th Avenue, south of Baseline Road just after 3 p.m. Before fire crews arrived, it was reported that the fire had spread to the house. Shortly after the first fire department units arrived, a call went out for mutual aid from Hart, Walkerville, Pentwater and Grant Township departments. Fire crews were on the scene for several hours, and the Red Cross was called in to assist the family that lived in the home. The fire remains under investigation.
