Pentwater Service Club honors Anna VanDuinen as student of the month.

PENTWATER — Pentwater High School senior Anna VanDuinen was honored as the September Student of the Month by members of the Pentwater Service Club during a luncheon Thursday, Sept. 29.

VanDuinen was nominated by high school staff members for her leadership skills, service to others, athletics, academic achievements, and the exemplary role she plays with other students. “Anna is vivacious, intelligent, curious, and thoughtful,” said her teacher Rick Magrath. “She brings all of herself to the classroom, contributing to discussions through her enthusiasm, intellect and infectious sense of humor.”

“Anna is a standout when it comes to her leadership qualities, both on and off the track,” said her teacher and coach Erika Fatura. “She is always helpful and is a role model and mentor to younger students.”

In addition to an engraved, wooden plaque commemorating her achievement, VanDuinen also received gift certificates from the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce and the Pentwater Service Club.

Anna’s parents Brad and Carrie VanDuinen and Superintendent/Principal Dr. Scott Karaptian attended the luncheon.

VanDuinen is the third recipient of the Student of the Month program, which was initiated by the PSC in April of 2022, to reward and encourage excellence in education at Pentwater School.
