SHS Jazz Band to perform at New Era Farmers’ Market season finale Sept. 13.

NEW ERA — The New Era Farmers’ Market wraps up its 2022 season Tuesday, Sept. 13, featuring the Shelby High School Jazz Band.

The market runs from 4-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the New Era Christian Reformed Church at 1820 Ray Ave.

The market will feature an authors’ corner with five authors — who have signed up so far — for a meet and greet, book signing and sale. Authors are from New Era, Shelby, Hart and Edmore, Michigan.

The Kids Power of Produce Program will run from 4-5 p.m. Barbara Sims, owner of Storybook Village in Pentwater, will read “Summer’s Call” by local author Amber Hellewell. Hellewell is one of the onsite authors and will share information with the kids about writing a book and how to get it published. Plans are in the works for a 15-minute children’s yoga program, but it has not yet been confirmed. There will be two drawings for autographed copies of Hellewell’s book and a drawing for a family tour donated by Country Dairy.

The jazz band performance starts at 5 p.m.

There will be three hot food vendors offering a variety of meals. “At this market, we will be taking donations for the Local Animal Shelter Support, Inc. (LASSI) of Oceana County,” said , Market Manager Sandy Whitaker. “We hope to have them here to fill us in on adopting or fostering a pet. Come on out and enjoy the market finale. Thank you, vendors and shoppers for making this our seventh successful year.”
