Obituary: LeRoy Horter, 58, of Rothbury.

LeRoy D. Horter, 58, of Rothbury, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was born September 19, 1963 in Shelby, the son of Frank and Lula Belle (Achterhoff) Horter.

Soon after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He also was in the National Guard Unit in Montague and served as a reservist. His military career spanned 22 years. He enjoyed hunting deer, turkey and bear. LeRoy loved being outdoors whether he was working his garden or on the farm.  He enjoyed going for walks in the woods, sitting around the campfire telling stories or just sitting taking in nature’s beauty.

LeRoy is survived by his siblings: Christian Ann (Clarence) Horter-Chase, Irene (Steve) Rayment, Frank Peter Horter Jr. and Peter Frank Horter; many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He also had a very dear and special friend, Ruth Haskell.  His legacy is carried on in the memories of each of his friends and family.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Peter Horter Sr. and Lula Belle Horter.

A funeral service honoring the life of Leroy Horter, will  will conducted at 11 a.m., Friday June 24, 2022, at Newman Christian Community Church, 4075 S. 132nd Avenue, Hesperia, with Pastor Mike Termer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue Shelby,  and at 10 a.m. until his service, Friday June 24, 2022 at the church.
