Pirate girls track team wins state title.

KENT CITY – The Hart High School Girls Track Team captured the state title Saturday, June 4, during the Division 3 track and field state finals at Kent City High School.

The champions were greeted by cheering fans and a police escort through town upon their return. 

The Pirates captured the championship in the 3,200-meter relay, with Alyson Enns, Lexie Beth Nienhuis, Audrianna Enns and Jessica Jazwinski finishing the race with a time of 9:30.18. Hart gained four runner-up finishes, a third place finish and four other top eight finishes to tally 63 points.

Pewamo-Westphalia finished in second place with 39 points, and Onsted took third with 33 points.

The Pirate girls gained their second state championship in four years, and the girls cross country team has won five straight state titles since 2017.

In addition to the 3,200-meter relay championship, the Pirates finished second in the 400-meter relay; seventh in the 1,600-meter relay; runner-up and sixth in the 3,200-meter run; runner-up and fourth in the 1,600-meter run; and third and fourth in the 800-meter run.

Freshman Jessica Jazwinski led the way for Hart, finishing second  in the 3,200-meter run (10:48.07); third in the 800-meter run (2:16.42); fourth in the 1,600-meter run (4:58.11); and anchored the championship 3,200-meter relay team (9:30.18).

Senior Audianna Enns finished runner-up in the 1,600-meter run (4:56.71); fourth in the 800-meter run (2:17.79); and ran in the 3,200-meter relay team. Sophomore Alyson Enns finished sixth in the 3,200-meter run (11:14.29) and ran in the 3,200-meter relay.

Freshman Addison Hovey finished second in high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches and anchored the 400-meter relay team.
