BENONA TOWNSHIP — A 53-year-old Shelby man was transported by Life EMS to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday, Dec. 1, shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of 42nd Avenue near Homer Lake.

The man was trapped inside the GMC Sierra pickup truck, which tipped over on its side, and was extricated with Jaws of Life equipment by the Shelby-Benona Fire Department, according to Oceana County sheriff’s deputies on scene.

“Alcohol is a factor in the single-vehicle crash,” said Deputy Mike Fillips, and the man suffered minor injuries.
