Be on alert for severe thunderstorms tonight.

OCEANA COUNTY — Severe weather is forecasted for overnight, July 28 and 29, and Oceana County Emergency Management Coordinator James Duram is asking residents to be alert and prepared.

Residents should sign up for the CodeRED mass notification system if they have not already done so.

“Camping is our biggest concern,” said Duram, who advises campers to seek a sturdy structure, such as a restroom building.

It’s also important for people to make sure they have flashlights and batteries in case of a power outage.

Severe thunderstorms with strong winds and a slight chance of an isolated tornado are predicted, he said.
