HART – In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, The Hart Area Public Library announces its second annual Celebrate Creativity Poetry Contest.

The contest has four brackets: third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, ninth through 12th grade and new this year is the addition of an adult category for anyone who is beyond high school. The contest is open to all Oceana County residents. Entry forms are available at the library or can be printed from the Hart Library website.

Contestants are invited to submit one original poem, which can be any length or style. The library is taking submissions through March 30 at 2 p.m. All poems must be accompanied by an entry form. Submissions may be typed or neatly hand-printed.

Winners in each age bracket will receive cash prizes. In the youth categories, third place will receive $15; second place, $30; and first place, $45. The adult first place cash prize will be $100; second place, $75; and third place, $50. Winning poems will be displayed in the library.

The library will host two reading events – one for high school students through adults and one for children third through eighth grade. All contestants are invited to perform their poems in front of a live audience.
