Mears couple arrested in drug bust.

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old Mears man and a 30-year-old Mears woman have been arraigned on felony drug charges after narcotics officers executed a search warrant at their home Friday, Feb. 2, seizing suspected methcathinone, a schedule I controlled substance; prescription medication; and suspected marijuana, according to Det./Lt. Andrew Ambrose of the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT).

78th District Court Monday, Feb. 5. Both are charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule I controlled substance – 50-450 grams.

A habitual offender notice has been placed on Austin Valentine’s warrant, making the charge a 40-year felony, Ambrose said.

Austin Valentine has a Michigan Department of Corrections parole absconder warrant, and Jessica Valentine has a misdemeanor warrant, Ambrose said.

Austin Valentine has a previous conviction in Emmet County of attempted delivery/manufacture of marijuana and was sentenced to two to four years in prison, according to the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS).

Both suspects are currently lodged in the Oceana County Jail on $5,000/10 percent bonds.

SSCENT detectives executed a search warrant at their home in the 5900 block of Deer Road Friday.

“This is the same home that SSCENT detectives executed a search warrant on in the spring of 2016. Several controlled substances and a firearm were seized from the home in 2016,” the detective said.

SSCENT detectives were assisted with their investigation and search warrant by members of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police Canine Unit and the Michigan State Police Hart Post.
