HESPERIA — There were many great photos submitted to the “Hesperia, The Way I See It” photo contest sponsored by the Hesperia Community Library and the Friends of the Library.

People shared photos of their dogs and frogs, local lakes, the skies and the woods. There were categories for students and adults with prizes awarded in each category. There was also a chance for the public to vote for their favorite.

The judge commented on the great selection representing Hesperia and the surrounding community. Winners in the adult category were: Heather Fessenden, first place; Scott Fessenden, second place; Justin Riley, third place; and Carl Nielsen, popular vote. Student winners were: Hailey Meyette, first place; Mayli Cardiff, second place; Sky Milner, third place; and Olivia VanAvery, popular vote.

Upcoming events:

  • The library’s next event is the “Let It Snow” adult reading contest beginning Monday, Jan. 9. This is open to residents of the Hesperia Community Library district.
  • On Saturday, Jan. 21, the library will have a “Comfort Food Cook-off: Macaroni and Cheese.” Get out your favorite recipe and see how it measures up.
  • On Jan. 27, the library begins its winter Friends of the Library Book Sale. Choose from many great hardcover books in mint condition for only $1.
  • Every Tuesday in February, the library will have Family Game Night at 6:30 p.m. This is the evening to shut off the TV and computer; get your family together; and come to the library for an hour of fun, playing Clue, a card game or Giant Jenga.

Call the library at 231-854-5125 for more details on these programs.
