WALKERVILLE — A 57-year-old man was stabbed in the back and in the back of the head by his 31-year-old daughter Thursday morning, April 16, and police are actively searching for the suspect, according to Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

The stabbing occurred at a residence in the 200 block of South Hamon St., and police were contacted by staff from Mercy Health Lakeshore Campus in Shelby shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, Mast said. The victim was treated and released from the hospital after the stabbing and then returned to the hospital later that evening for additional treatment, Mast said. The man received two stab wounds in the back and one in the back of his head, he said. “It was unprovoked.” Both the Hart post of the Michigan State Police and the sheriff’s office were dispatched to the scene, according to MSP.

“We are actively searching for her,” Mast said Friday morning, April 17. The woman has a Fremont address. OCSO is pursuing a warrant charging the woman with one count of felonious assault. “We examined the scene, and it was consistent with what we were told occurred,” he said. The crime scene contained large amounts of blood and some property damage, the lieutenant said.

“We have had a history with this suspect,” said Mast. “There has been previous contact with law enforcement.”
