GOLDEN TWP. — A quaint hobby garage that had been somewhat of a landmark in the area located at the end of Deer Road near B-15 was totally destroyed in an early morning fire Sunday, Feb. 8.

The blaze, which is being investigated by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, is suspicious said Hart Fire Chief Ken Klotz. No one was injured.

Seven vehicles were also destroyed in the blaze, Klotz said. A few vehicles were saved by firefighters but sustained some damage, the chief said. Firefighters from Hart, Shelby and Pentwater were called to the scene at 4:06 a.m., and cleared the scene at 9:59 a.m. Oceana EMS and the OCSO also responded.

The 10,000-square-foot building was “fully-engulfed,” when fire crews arrived, Klotz said.

No other details were immediately available.
