April 5, 2014

ELBRIDGE TWP. — A 23-year-old Hart man died during a single vehicle crash early this morning. At 4:56 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to East Taylor Road between 122nd and 128th avenues. There, they found a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that had left the road as it traveled east and struck several trees.

The driver, Jordan Evans of Hart, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, the airbags did deploy in the vehicle but Evans was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Other emergency units responding, in addition to the sheriff’s office, were Oceana EMS and Walkerville Fire and Rescue.

The crash remains under investigation.
