Earth Day event at the fairgrounds Saturday.

HART — An Earth Day event featuring free information and activities is set for Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oceana County Fairgrounds.

Fatty Lumpkins Shack will be on hand for hungry attendees, and live music will be provided by the Miller Brothers.

Topics will include: Conserving Soil with Cover Crops; Wastewater — How it all Flushes out; Honey Bees — Pollinators in Trouble; Stormy Weather — Storm Water Protection; Woodland Critters — Furs and More; Critters in Our Rivers and Why it Matters — Macroinvertebrate Sampling; Nuts and Bolts of Renewables — Invest in Our Planet with Wind and Solar; Environmentally-Friendly Lakefronts; Microplastics — They’re Everywhere Now; Moving Towards Planet-Friendly Food; and Calculate Your Personal Climate Footprint.

There will be free white pine seedlings, face painting, reusable shopping bags and more.

Enjoy tours of Hart’s BioPure Facility and “Birdwatching with Ed” at the BioPure ponds.
