LEAVITT TOWNSHIP — A 40-year-old Walkerville man was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies for felonious domestic assault Thursday, Dec. 9, shortly after 7:30 p.m. following a bloody battle with a 20-year-old man who has addresses in both Whitehall and Walkerville, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The victim of the assault is in a dating relationship with the suspect’s daughter. He sought treatment at an area hospital, said Sheriff Mast.

Oceana County EMS was called to the scene, according to dispatch information.

Both the suspect and the victim were “highly intoxicated.” The suspect was also injured with a cut on his thumb.

No weapons were used, but the suspect repeatedly punched the victim and placed him in a choke hold. The suspect was transported to the Oceana County Jail where he was lodged.
