Ohio man, 20, in critical condition following dune crash.

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 20-year-old Ashland, Ohio man was transported by Aeromed to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for critical injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Saturday, Aug. 21, shortly after 11 a.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The man remains hospitalized in critical condition, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast Monday, Aug. 23.

A 57-year-old Clyde, Ohio man, who was operating a 1985 Pontiac assembled ATV, told the investigating deputy that he was traveling northwest in “Dune Buggy Junction,” and the 20-year-old man was traveling south in front of him in a 2005 Suzuki ATV which “had spun around quickly and began traveling northeast.” The 57-year-old man said he was unable to avoid the collision and struck the other ATV on the right side.

Hart Area Fire Department firefighters and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officers assisted at the scene.
