New Era man sentenced to jail for home invasion.

HART — A 43-year-old New Era man was sentenced to nine months in jail for a felony conviction of third-degree home invasion in 27th Circuit Court Monday, May 3.

Bradley James Skofic, Sr., whose last address was listed as 3110 W. Tahoe Trail, pleaded guilty, March 8. Scofik admitted that he entered his ex-girlfriend’s house Dec. 27 in Claybanks Township. He testified before Judge Robert D. Springstead that he had no permission to go there, and a condition of his parole is that he have no contact with her.

A fourth-offense habitual offender designation was dismissed.

The maximum penalty for third-degree home invasion is five years in prison, said Judge Springstead.

Sentencing guidelines in the case are 9-23 months.

Because Sofic was on parole at the time of his offense, his sentence runs consecutively to any parole violation sanctions he incurs, and he receives no credit for his time spent in jail so far.

According to the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS), Skofic was paroled June 26, 2019. He was sentenced May 21, 2012 to two to 22 years and six months for a conviction of second-degree home invasion. He was ordered to serve one year and two months to 21 years, April 10, 2006, for a two-count felony conviction of uttering and publishing. On June 17, 2003, he was sentenced to one year and one month to three years for third-offense domestic violence and one year and one month to two years for larceny in a building. OTIS records show that he was sentenced to two years and six months April 26, 2010 for uttering and publishing. An unlawful use of a vehicle conviction yielded a one year and six month sentence May 2, 2011. He was convicted of larceny in a building and sentenced Feb. 11, 2002 to three years in prison.
