News alert: Chimney fire in Newfield Township.

NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — Hesperia, Ferry Township and Walkerville fire departments were dispatched to a house fire at 941 Maple Island Rd. near Carmean Road Thursday, April 15, at 1:45 p.m. The house is being evacuated.

UPDATE: The fire was reported out around 2:15 p.m. The fire was contained to the chimney, and there was “very minimal damage,” said Cpt. Jason Newman of the Hesperia Area Fire Department. Ferry Township and Walkerville departments were cancelled from the call.
