Walkerville man arrested on gun, domestic violence charges following assault.

WALKERVILLE — A 46-year-old Walkerville man was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies Monday, April 5, shortly before 9 a.m. following a domestic assault on West Michigan Street, according to Lt. Shane Hasty of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

William Jon Monroe was arraigned in 78th District Court on charges of domestic violence, felon in possession of firearm and a felony firearm violation.

Monroe’s bond was set at $7,500/cash/surety/10 percent, according to district court staff, and he is scheduled for a preliminary exam April 26 at 3 p.m.

  • 9:42 p.m., a 26-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for operating while intoxicated and open intoxicants, North 144th Avenue, Ferry Township.
  • 11:49 p.m., illegal burn activity, warning issued, South 180th Avenue, Greenwood Township.

Tuesday, April 6, 2021:

  • 10:53 a.m., larceny from a building, power tools and hand tools were stolen, South 64th Avenue, Benona Township. The case is under investigation.
  • 4:37 p.m., a 21-year-old Shelby man was arrested on an outstanding drug charge and was cited for driving while license suspended, South 132nd Avenue, Ferry Township.
  • 8 p.m., illegal dumping of tires, West Lever Road, Hart Township.
  • 10:28 p.m., fleeing and eluding, South 192nd Avenue, Newfield Township. No suspect has been identified, and the investigation is continuing.
