Police seek public’s help to find alleged assailant.

By Allison Scarbrough, Editor.

ROTHBURY — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect who allegedly punched a dog and choked out a man at the Double JJ Resort Saturday, April 3, at 3 p.m., said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The incident occurred in the playground area near the rodeo. The suspect is described as a white male approximately 6 feet tall with a husky build and brown hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect allegedly punched a Saint Bernard after the dog non-aggressively approached a child. When the male victim went to the dog’s aide, he ended being assaulted by the suspect, Mast said. The victim did not lose consciousness due to being choked, Mast said.

If anyone has information, they are asked to call Det. Richard Parmer at 231-873-2121.
