HART — The Hart Middle School Drama Club returns to the stage after a year-long absence due to COVID-19 with a funny and enlightening production, “I Hate Shakespeare,” Tuesday and Wednesday, March 23 and 24, from 7-9 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.

“We hate Shakespeare! At least that’s what the audience thinks until they get a rip-roaring rundown of Shakespeare’s classics,” said Director David Moul, Hart Public Schools Drama Club advisor. “With zombies, talking cows, and an appearance by Jerry Springer, ‘I Hate Shakespeare!’ is a hilarious and fast-paced introduction to Shakespeare — with a modern twist. Plus, someone gets a pie in the face.”

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at: https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/48567 or call the ShowTix4U Box Office at: 1-866-967-8167. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door.

“This production will be done in full cooperation with current COVID-19 state protocols, which should provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere for patrons,” said Moul. “Our students have waited over a year to get back on stage, doing what they’re passionate about, and we’re hoping the community will give them the support, encouragement, and audience participation they deserve. We’re so excited to be presenting ‘I Hate Shakespeare,’ helping audiences learn to enjoy and appreciate some of theatre’s greatest works.”

COVID-19 precautions include:

  • Patrons must be masked, per state policy.
  • 50 percent limited seating for distancing.
  • Contactless online ticket purchases available.
