Officers spread Christmas cheer and hope.

HART — Hart police officers met with members of the Evans family, who were recently displaced from their home due to an electrical fire, to bring some Christmas cheer and hope Wednesday evening, Dec. 16, at the Hart Community Center.

The Hart Police Department, along with Santa himself, presented the Evans children with various gifts, including a gift certificate from Hansen Foods.

“Any structure fire can be devastating to a family,” stated Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar. “What makes it more difficult is when it happens close to Christmas time.”

Officers and Santa were able to interact with the family and bring about a bit of cheer during a difficult and trying time in their lives.

“The Evans family was extremely appreciative and excited about the act of kindness. It is our hope that during such difficult times, our community can see the generosity of its police department and community by taking care of those in need,” Chief Salazar said.

The Hart Police Department has conducted the event several times throughout the past several years by “adopting” a family and providing them with a proper and well-deserved Christmas.
