Shelby man arrested for OWI after skateboarder collision.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old Shelby man was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers for operating while intoxicated (OWI) after the side mirror on the pickup truck he was driving hit a 15-year-old New Era boy who was riding a skateboard on Cleveland Road near Oceana Drive Friday, Sept. 18, shortly before 8:30 p.m., said Trooper Todd Goodrich.

The boy suffered minor injuries that required stitches, Goodrich said.

The man, who was westbound on Cleveland Road, told police he saw the skateboarder at the last second. The skateboarder was on the road’s shoulder, Goodrich said.

– 1:28 a.m., a 37-year-old Montague woman was arrested for OWI, 64th Avenue near Winston Road, Grant Township.
