Pirate News: Hart students’ book helps people impacted by COVID-19.

Pirate News is a service of Hart Public Schools in cooperation with Oceana County Press.

HART – A published writing anthology, entitled Spring Outbreak, written by Hart High School juniors and seniors is for sale. All proceeds raised by the sale of book will benefit United Way of Oceana County to assist residents in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Missing so many weeks of face-to-face schooling, students losing structure to their days, parents losing their jobs and their income challenged Oceana County in innumerable negative ways,” said English teacher Brett Ramseyer. “My hope is this publication will help my students engage in their remote learning, take pride in their academic work and help this community.”

Hart senior Xitlali Reyna said she feels honored that Ramseyer chose her writing piece for the book. Reyna wrote about the role of music in helping her through her difficult weeks of state stay-at-home orders.

Ramseyer hopes the community will embrace the anthology and share the link to purchase it with equal fervor as junior Autumn Farmer. “I will do my best to help promote the book and help raise funds. I believe it will turn out [well],” Farmer said.

Those interested may purchase copies of the anthology at: https://www.lulu.com/en/us/shop/brett-ramseyer/spring-outbreak/paperback/product-jd7n2z.html. Individual copies cost $14.99 each through Lulu.com.
