NEW ERA — Take part in a 51-year tradition that supports the local community — New Era’s Cherry Pie Contest Fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event takes place at the The Avenue Event Center, formerly Morat’s Bakery, at 4747 First Street.

Prizes of up $100 will be awarded to the top five adults and seniors and the top three in both youth catergories.

Proceeds from this year’s contest will go toward the Thomas Read Playground Fund and the New Era Veterans Park.

Enter your double-crust or lattice cherry pie in a 9-inch disposable pie tin. The pies will be judged; prizes awarded; and then the pies will be auctioned off to benefit the local projects.
