NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — A 33-year-old Hesperia woman received minor injuries when the 2004 Jeep Cherokee she was driving Monday, Jan. 6, shortly after 7 a.m. ran off Yonker Road near 192nd Avenue and hit a mailbox, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The woman transported herself to Spectrum Health Gerber Hospital in Fremont, according to the report. Two boys, ages 2 and 3, were passengers in the Jeep and were uninjured. Both children were properly restrained in their car seats, and the woman was wearing a seat belt.

The Jeep was westbound on Yonker Road “when the driver lost control on the ice,” the report narrative states. “The vehicle spun out and ran off the road to the left. The vehicle hit a mailbox and then an embankment.”
