HART TOWNSHIP – A 38-year-old Hart woman who was delivering US mail in a 2005 Dodge Caravan suffered minor injuries when a 2006 Pontiac G6 rear-ended the Caravan Tuesday, Dec. 31, shortly before 11 a.m. on West Tyler Road near US 31, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The Pontiac was driven by a 17-year-old Hart man. He told the investigating deputy that he applied the brakes on the icy road, but was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.

The letter carrier’s vehicle was stopped at a mailbox when the crash occurred. She was transported by Life EMS to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby. The teen was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
