Shelby hosts honors band performance Jan. 7.

SHELBY — Shelby High School will host the District 1 Middle School Honors Band Tuesday, Jan. 7. Students that make up this group all received a first division rating for their solos last November at the District Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival at Chippewa Hills High School.

There will be 128 middle school students from various schools participating. The group will be separated into two bands with directors Rob Finn and Dan Meyers.

Students will rehearse up to five pieces per group and put on a performance that is open to the public at 7 p.m.

Last year’s honors band conductor Jeff Hall.

Participating schools include: Shelby, Pentwater, Hart, Hesperia, Manistee Catholic Central, White Cloud, Reed City, Big Rapids Crossroads, Pine River, Evart, Brethren, Big Rapids, Manistee, Chippewa Hills, Cadillac, Mesick and Lake City.
