SHELBY TOWNSHIP – The drivers involved in a head-on crash Thursday, Nov. 21, shortly before 6 a.m. on Oceana Drive near Buchanan Road received minor injuries, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

A 63-year-old Shelby man driving a 2003 Ford Expedition “stated he was disoriented due to the darkness, rain, and oncoming headlights and inadvertently drifted into the oncoming traffic lane and had a head-on collision” with a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck driven by a 60-year-old Shelby man, states the report.

The pickup truck driver told the investigating deputy that he was unable to avoid a head-on collision with the SUV when it entered his lane.

Neither man required hospitalization. Both were wearing seatbelts.
