104 Tigers to visit the Big Apple.

SHELBY — Shelby Public Schools will send its Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band to New York City Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The group of 104 Shelby students and 20 chaperones will board two passenger motor coaches at around 3:30 p.m. During the trip, there will be plenty of  educational locations for the students, including the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Grand Central Station, and the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum.

Students will also have musical enrichment while attending a Broadway show, “The Lion King”; performing jazz at the Mary Manning Old Folks Home; and listening to a live performance of the New York Philharmonic. Along with attending performances, students will receive a clinic with Michael Adelson, conductor from the New York Philharmonic. Students will arrive home Sunday, Nov. 24, at around 2:30 p.m.
