Oceana Hispanic Center restructures.

HART – The Oceana Hispanic Center has announced that it is restructuring its operations and seeking ways of meeting the needs of Hispanic residents of this area, according to a press release recently issued by the center.

“The center has been primarily dependent on donations from individuals and businesses to maintain the services it provides, and it has proven to be difficult to raise sufficient funds to achieve a stable operating budget.

“Effective Oct. 1, 2019, the Oceana Hispanic Center entered into a contract with Eva Berumen Reyna, former executive director, to provide services to clients as well as some limited administrative services.”

Office hours will be Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. each day. Reyna may be contacted at 231-301-8300 for appointments. The address of the office is 11 Washington Street in Hart.

Clients may also receive services from Irma Hinojosa, vice-chairperson of the board, by contacting her at 231-742-2264.

The center’s board is currently developing a restructuring plan, which will be announced before Jan. 1, 2020. “We are seeking new board members to participate in the planning and implementation of programs and services,” states the press release. Anyone interested in participating in this process should contact Irma Hinojosa via email at ihinojosa@westshore.edu or by calling 231-742-2264.

“The board appreciates the support of community members who have attended events and contributed to the operations of the center. We look forward to working with all interested parties in developing a sustainable operation that meets the needs of our Hispanic residents.”
