HART – A red miniature Pinscher valued at $2,500 that was believed to be stolen from a vehicle while parked at the Walkerville Family Dollar store Saturday afternoon has been safely returned, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The dog – named Baby Binky – is back with its owner.

The people who had the dog called the sheriff’s office after reading the Oceana County Press article, Mast said. “They called us and said, ‘We think we have the dog.'” They said it was a misunderstanding and that they found the dog. “There are differing statements,” Mast said.

The dog owner and witnesses told police that a newer-looking black four-door pickup truck occupied by two men pulled up, and one of the men got out and grabbed the dog out of the victim’s vehicle. The men then drove away, heading north on 176th Avenue.

The case is still under investigation.
