Spaghetti dinner to benefit 1-year-old. 

HART — Knights of Columbus Council 2199 will be holding a benefit spaghetti dinner/silent auction on  Friday, July 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hart located at 109 Washington.  The benefit is for Xavier Setlak, the grandson of Rich Setlak, a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Xavier, 1, was born in 2018. At the age of 3-months, he suffered an abusive head trauma, also known as shaken baby syndrome, while his mother was at work.  For two weeks Xavier battled for his life suffering from seizures and brain bleeds.  After coming out of his medically induced coma, he started his road to recovery which includes two to three appointments per week in Grand Rapids for therapy.  Xavier has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and doctors do not know if he will ever walk or talk.  Another big hurdle is Xavier is legally blind from the abuse and his brain has atrophied.
