ROTHBURY – Michigan State Police dealt with three vehicle crashes Wednesday, June 26, as Electric Forest goers with early entry passes headed into the venue, according to Sgt. Charles Hockanson. MSP also is investigating an incident of someone a carrying concealed weapon near the Double JJ Resort where the event takes place.

No one was injured in any of the crashes, said Hockanson. The three crashes near EF all involved two vehicles.

The first crash occurred at 3 p.m. at M 20 and Garfield Road. Local residents complained on Facebook that traffic on M 20/Stony Lake Road was backed up for over an hour as festival goers drove into the venue.

The second accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. at Oceana Drive and Webster Road. The third crash occurred at Water and Wilke roads at 8 p.m.

The concealed weapon incident occurred at 12:30 p.m. at Water and Arthur roads.

Gates open today, June 27, for entry into the nationally-renowned music festival which continues through Sunday, June 30.

The celebration of music, art and individuality attracts approximately 50,000 people from across the nation and beyond each year. Festival goers camp in the Double JJ horse fields during the four-day event.

The widely-popular event that features many electronic dance music (EDM) artists has been ongoing since 2011. Prior to EF, a similar event – ROTHBURY – took place in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, an event did not take place.
