Dorinda Blohm

Obituary: Dorinda Alna Blohm, 61, of New Era.

Dorinda Alna Blohm, 61, of New Era passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at her home.  Dorinda was born on April 26, 1958 in Ludington, the daughter of Donald B. and Flossie Alna (Dains) Miller and graduated from Pentwater High School with the class of 1976.  She furthered her education earning her licensed practical nurse degree from West Shore Community College and later returned to West Shore and earned her registered nurse degree.  Dorinda loved being a nurse and caring for people.  She worked countless hours in the emergency room at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon and as a nursing supervisor for the Michigan Department of Corrections.

When Dorinda wasn’t working, her greatest joy was found in the presence of her family.  She and her mother shared many ventures together with frequent trips to the casino and she looked forward to lunch dates with co-workers.  Home was her safe haven, especially when her grandchildren were involved enjoying time spent together hanging out in the pool.

On May 4, 1984 Dorinda married Gary Blohm and their family grew to include sons Michael, Jeremy, and Kyle.

Dorinda was preceded in death by her father Donald in 2008 and her brother Clinton in 2017.

Dorinda will be greatly missed by her sons, Michael and wife Linda of New Era, Jeremy and wife Samantha of Shelby, Kyle and wife Katie of Rothbury; her grandchildren, Logan, Zac, Dayton, Emily, Alex, Parker, Bailey, Gunner, Kadence, Kyler, and one arriving soon; her mother, Flossie Miller of Pentwater; her former husband and friend Gary Blohm of Shelby; her brothers Byron (Julia) Miller of Pentwater, and Doland (Laura) Miller of Newport News, Va.; her “adopted” son Neil Allen and wife Danielle of Rothbury; her best friends Joe and Sharon Sharon of North Muskegon, and Angie Forbear of New Era; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Linda Blohm and Angie Forbear along with Harbor Hospice for their wonderful care of Dorinda these last weeks.
